Virtual Harry Potter Book Night

Mickelsen Library will be running a virtual Harry Potter Book Night program on Facebook and Instagram!

Posts will go up every day during the week of March 14-18, many will be interactive. Everyone who responds to the posts will be entered in the prize giveaway. There will also be a virtual Costume Contest, this is a separate prize giveaway. Winners will be notified the week of March 21. There will be one in-person activity available.

ACTIVITIES:

300 Giveaway Bags:

Starting March 14-18 is the 300 giveaway bags available on the Children’s Side of the Library. This is a first-come, first served basis while supplies last.

Classes:

Throughout the week, several interactive slides will post on social media whose theme is one of Harry’s classes. Respond in the comments to be entered in the prize giveaway!

Costume Contest:

This slide will post every day, on social media. Patrons are encourage to post pictures of themselves in costume, or just the costume if you feel more comfortable. Everyone who posts pictures will be entered in a separate giveaway, each category has one prize.

Three categories are:

1. Best House Costume (any character from any House)
2. Best Group Costume (Judged as a group must post picture of the group or picture of all the costumes, one prize for this category)
3. Best Magical Creature Costume

Crafts:

Several crafts will post throughout the week on social media. Show off your artwork in the comments to be entered in the prize giveaway!

Divination:

One interactive slide will post several days during the week, on social media. Respond in the comments to be entered in the prize giveaway!

Mad Science Potions:

One slide featuring a simple science experiment will post every day, on social media.

Origami:

An origami activity related to the creatures students can bring with them to Hogwarts will post one day, on social media.

Scavenger Hunt:

This is an in-person activity, available at the library. Patrons will come to the Children’s Side desk and be given a sheet. Then, they can explore the Children’s Side looking for pictures of Harry Potter characters. Write down every character you find, and bring it back to the desk. Everyone who participates will be entered in the prize giveaway!

Trivia:

One slide will post every day, on social media. Respond in the comments to be entered in the prize giveaway!
