Finding a School

TEA provides public school state accountability ratings based on three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gap. For more information about the El Paso area schools visit https://tea.texas.gov/texas-schools/accountability/academic-accountability/performance-reporting/school-report-cards.  All schools on and around the installation are operated by EPISD, there are four (4) elementary schools and one (1) high school on federal property.

Registering your Child for school in a new location can be confusing.

We know you want to get your kids settled in their new schools as quickly as possible. That's why we work hard to help you identify all educational opportunities available to you and your family. We can help you with information about how to register your child, including documents you will need to complete, school year start dates and age requirements. You can also contact our office and we'll be glad to meet with you to offer more detailed information.

Registration Requirements

- Birth certificate

- Immunization records (under the Interstate Compact military connected students are authorized 30 days to provide immunization records if they are not available)

- Report card/transcript from losing school

- Social security card (will not prevent enrollment)

- Proof of income if applying for the National Nutritional School Program

- Valid identification of the parent/guardian enrolling the student

- Proof of residence (utility bill, lease, housing assignment, etc.)

Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten

Prekindergarten is available to all military connected student in the state of Texas. The student must be 4 years of age by 1 September.  Once registered, attendance is mandatory. If entering Kindergarten, according to the Texas Education Agency, students must be 5 years of age by 1 September. According to The Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children, "The Compact", students shall be allowed to continue enrollment at the grade level from the sending state regardless of age provided the student completed the prerequisite grade level in the sending state from a local education agency.

Eleven EPISD elementary schools offer Pre-Kinder for 3-year old also meeting the state eligibility requirements, which includes being 3 years old by Sept. 1st of the current school year. Eight EPISD campuses offer Universal Pre-Kinder for 4 year olds by Sept. 1st without any other qualifications needed.
